Our monasteries are open for drop-in visits by curious people of all backgrounds. There are English speaking monks living at each of the locations listed below who are available to show you around and answer questions about Buddhism or meditation. While it is not necessary to schedule a visit, doing so will help it would help to ensure someone is available to speak with you.

Our Main Monastery in Polgahawela

This is one of our largest and most active monasteries. It is located on the A6 road and is an easy side trip for any travel between Colombo and Kandy, Kurunegala, Dambulla, Trincomalee.

Anuradhapura Monastery

This monastery is a quiet spot close to the ancient sacred sites in Anuradhapura. A visit here is beneficial before or after a tour of the sites so you can speak with a monk about the significance of Buddhist pilgrimage and holy sites and also learn about the ancient teachings of the Buddha.

Bandarawela (Ella) Monastery

High on the top of a mountain in Sri Lanka’s Up-Country near the popular tourist destination of Ella, this monastery offers a spectacular view of the countryside as well as the spectacular teachings of the Buddha. Close to many popular destinations such as Nuwara Eliya and the beautiful waterfalls of Ella.

Pinnawala Monastery

After visiting the elephant orphanage, vist with the monks in this monastery to learn about the Buddha’s teachings on compassion and the dangers of the animal world.

Kundasale (Kandy) Monastery

Located a few minutes outside of the heart of the ancient capital of Kandy. This monastery provides a peaceful environment to meditate and learn about the Buddha’s teachings.

Matara Monastery

The Matara monastery is the second largest monastery in our network. Over 40 monks live here. There are many ways you can participate in the life of the monastery, even just with a day visit.

Malambe Monastery

Close to Colombo, the Malambe monastery will be a memorable visit for anyone interested in learning about Buddhism.
